Another year older, wiser and happier

Another year older, wiser and happier
13/02/2019
I turned 38 yesterday. The life expectancy of women in the Czech Republic is 82 years old which means that I am getting close to the middle. Luckily, I know that is never too late to follow your dreams, change your life, take a break from the routine, start a new career, and learn something new. Despite all the costs. If you are stuck in one place, you cannot grow. Last year was not easy for me but I am optimistic that this is my year! A lot of new opportunities and adventures lie ahead.

I learned a lot in 2018 - to surf, swim freestyle, become a snowboard coach. I have not mastered any of these but it enriched my life. I don't let my ego get in the way of any of my practice. I will continue to do what I enjoy. This year, I want to dive more into yoga, mindfulness and meditation. Yoga is an interesting one. I have been practicing it for more than 13 years now and it brought a lot of benefits to both my body and mind. I fell in love with yoga in Australia when I took a free yoga class in our campus gym. During the first lesson of 90 minutes I was restless and thought I would not last until the end. However, the way it made me feel after changed my life forever. You will meet a lot of yoga snobs who will tell you their way is the only way and claim how it has been done like this for thousands of years. The fact is that Sun salutation is about 100 years old, that's all. So let us all do what we enjoy doing without trying to look cooler and better than others this year. Thanks.

Despite my good self awareness and professional experience with psychometrics, in my 37th year I learned something new about myself. I learned that I am more tough and resilient than I thought. And thanks to my inner peace, I am more with peace with the outside world, no matter how much bad stuff is happening.

My Birthday was very special. I got to ride with my friend in Beaver Creek. It is my favourite resort because it has an Alpine feel and it is not as crowded as Keystone. The tree riding is open and full of light when going through the Aspen trees. After riding, we headed to Eagle to an event at Open circle, where a group of women with interesting backgrounds in yoga, meditation, reiki etc. meet on a regular basis. The events are organised by my friend who teaches Arts at the College and has expertise in natural healing with using essential oils. Yesterday, the session was about year 2019 from the perspective of numerology and astrology. I have had no previous experience with numerology but my interpretation of what I heard is that it will be a catalyser, a year of harvesting what we planted in this decade. It is a number of expression, communication and manifestation. If we commit to something, our energy will be amplified. Doesn't it sound good?

I don't read horoscopes but I am not naive to think that people are not affected by the positions of the planets. Of course they are. The Moon has the power to move the seas so how could it NOT affect people? I have respect for astrology as an exact science. On the other hand, I haven't taken much interest to understand it in order to benefit from it. In our astrology presentation we focused on understanding how the Moon and Venus will affect us women this year. Maybe it is my opportunity to come to peace with Venus and my feminine side. Most of my life I have been trying to keep up with men, be it in my career or sports. Venus is coming to teach me to accept that being feminine is not weak and caring about looking beautiful is not always superficial. Enough food for thought, ladies and gentlemen.
